2011 Summer Juggling Camps Register online for summer jugging camps Download 2011 Summer Registration Form SUMMER SCHEDULE: JUGHEADS is entering its 18th summer of juggling camps, offering instruction and mentorship to beginners through experts entering grades 3-12 (plus the summer after HS graduation). Our summer will kick off with two Mega All-Day Juggling Camps (June 13-14), which are recommended only for Jughead-members with school year experience. Lunch and five snack/beverage items per day are provided at these two all-day camps. Thereafter, five weeks of half-day camps are offered. The morning sessions (9 pm–Noon) are focused on beginning/intermediate jugglers, while the afternoon sessions (1 pm–4 pm) are focused on advanced/expert jugglers (e.g, more self-directed and working on standards, routines, numbers, club passing, etc.). Use of equipment and two snack/beverage items per half-day camp are included in the tuition. (Kids staying all day may have an extra snack/beverage item with their self-provided lunch.)REGISTRATION OPTIONS: Kids may sign up for a week of morning or afternoon sessions according to their skill level. Kids signing up for a week of morning AND afternoon sessions during the same week have the option eating bag lunches with other Jugheads from Noon–1 pm. Summer Punchcards are available in half-day increments of 1, 5, 10, and 20 punches. Punchcards are valid June 13-July 15 and may be shared by siblings, allowing for maximum flexibility. (Punchcard attendance is kept on a master list; therefore, there is not a physical card your child will need to bring each day.) The Summer Juggling Season Pass is for jugglers wanting to immerse for five straight weeks—all morning and afternoon camps from June 13-July 15, which includes both Mega All-Day Juggling Camps. LEADERSHIP: Paul Arneberg and Billy Watson will be the coaches leading the summer juggling camps, with Paul focusing on the morning camps and Billy being the primary afternoon coach. Every morning and afternoon camp will also staff two or three varsity-level, tuition-earning student assistants, making for low leader-student ratios and diverse teaching styles. These veteran Jughead teens are a valuable resource for campers of every age and ability level, offering experience and skills in instruction, passing, and mentorship. Finally, qualified student volunteers will gain experience by acting as assistants-in-training for campers and/or tasks needing extra attention. STRUCTURE: Coach Paul kicks off every camp morning with a group meeting at 9:10 am, during which introductions are made, skills are demonstrated, goals are set, and records are shared. Two large indoor areas are dedicated to our campers (the Gym and South Hall), with optional juggling outside (weather- and coach-permitting). We take group snack breaks at 10:30 am and 2:30 pm, during which we study juggling videos and occasionally watch live performances by campers working on routines. Use of our snack area for self-provided lunches is permitted from Noon-1 p.m. for kids juggling all day any given day. Our juggling camps are “continuous progress” —beginners aren’t pushed too hard, and experts aren’t held back. The effort put into camp largely equals what a student gets out of camp.
